Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets Odds, Pick, Prediction 10/5/22

New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals

The MLB regular season ends on Wednesday, October 5, with all 30 teams in action including these divisional rivals, and here you can read the best Nationals vs. Mets betting pick and odds.

Washington and New York will play the third of a three-game series at Citi Field, and the Mets are N/A moneyline favorites on Caesars NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at N/A runs. These NL East rivals have met 16 times before this series, and the Mets lead 11-5. Game 1 and Game 2 of the current series will be played on Tuesday night.

Nationals lost the series to the Phillies

The Washington Nationals lost ten of the last 14 games, including three of a four-game series against divisional foes Philadelphia Phillies at home. Washington upset Philadelphia with a 13-4 victory in Game 2, but the Phillies responded with a pair of wins in which the Nats scored only three runs in total. The Nationals will finish the season with the worst record in the entire MLB.

The final game of the series against Philadelphia lasted only six innings due to heavy rain, but the Nats were actually happy that it ended earlier as planned because they lost 8-1. The hosts recorked just three hits opposite the Phillies’ 11 and scored the lone run in the bottom 6th through Joey Meneses’ RBI. Patrick Corbin dropped to a 6-19 record after allowing seven runs on ten hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 4.2 innings. This year was Corbin’s worst of his 10-year career as he finished it with a humiliating 6.31 ERA.

Erick Fedde (6-12) will start for the 27th time this year when he takes on the Mets on Wednesday. The 29-year-old right-hander owns a 5.27 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and 93/56 K/BB ratio over 124.2 innings of work.

Mets were swept by the Braves in the NL East showdown

The New York Mets likely lost the divisional title they had in their hands throughout the entire campaign. The Mets lost all three games of the road series against the reigning World Series champions Atlanta Braves, and even if they win all three games against Washington, they aren’t in control anymore. Although the Mets have a game in their hands, the Braves are two wins ahead with just a couple of games to go.

New York had a 3-1 lead in the 3rd innings in Game 3, but Atlanta responded immediately and restored the lead before finishing things off in a 5-3 win. Daniel Vogelbach homered and added another RBI, while the Mets had four players with a multi-hit display, but even the fact that they had 11 hits opposite Atlanta’s five didn’t help them to win here.  Chris Bassitt (15-9) took a loss as he lasted just 2.2 innings during which he surrendered four runs on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks.

The Mets still didn’t announce the name of their starting pitcher for Wednesday’s game against Washington.

Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets Pick

Even though he registered a 5.18 ERA in September, it was Erick Fedde’s best month in the last three. He even dominated the Mets in a one-run six-inning start and get a win, which was his only in three months! Still, Fedde has a 6.57 ERA in three starts (1-1) against the Mets this season, and considering how good the Mets are against right-handers (.261 BA with 5.06 runs per nine innings), I seriously doubt he can repeat that winning performance. Whoever starts for New York, I am backing the Mets to get a W here.

Pick: Take the Mets at N/A

The Total

The Mets scored more than four runs only once in the previous five games, but I believe they will dismantle Fedde and score 4+ off of him on Wednesday. Fedde is allowing a .308 batting average to the Mets’ batter in his career, but in his defense, he surrendered just one homer in 124 at-bats. However, the Mets have 17 RBIs against him, and I am looking for four or five more in this one. Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, and Jeff McNeil are the ones who could torment Fedde. Three of them combined for eight RBIs against Fedde.

Pick: Go Over N/A runs
