A very busy night awaits us in the NHL on Saturday, November 19, when we have 15 games, and here you can get the best Islanders vs. Stars betting pick and odds.
Dallas will open a four-game home stand when they host New York at American Airlines Center. The Stars are -137 moneyline favorites on BetRivers NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at 5.5 goals. These inter-conference rivals have faced twice last season, and that series was tied at 1-1.
Islanders couldn’t make a comeback in Nashville
The New York Islanders (11-7-0-0, 12-6) were searching for the third consecutive win but they fell short of the Nashville Predators on the road as the Preds celebrated a 5-4 victory. It was the second of the current four-game road trip for the Islanders. After the upcoming duel with Dallas, New York will face Toronto and then will return home for a tilt against Edmonton.
Nashville got to a 4-1 lead early in the second period, and although the Islanders managed to claw a pair of goals back and make it 4-3, they didn’t have enough strength to make a comeback. Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Adam Pelech contributed with a couple of points apiece, but the defense wasn’t good as this was a season-high five goals allowed for New York. This year, Mathew Barzal leads the Isles in points with 19 (G 0, A 19), while Brock Nelson (G 9, A 9) and Anders Lee (G 8, A 9) are following him on that list.
Ilya Sorokin (7-5-0) will take his place between the sticks against Dallas on Saturday. The 27-year-old is allowing 2.41 goals per game with a .925 SV% and one shutout.
D Sebastian Aho (upper body) is out indefinitely. RW Josh Bailey has sat out the past two games with an unknown injury, and it is up in the air if he will face the Stars on Saturday.
Stars beat Florida on the road thanks to a great opening period
The Dallas Stars (10-5-2-0, 12-5 ATS) won their fifth game in the last eight as they used a blitzkrieg against the Florida Panthers on the road and scored four goals in the first period. Dallas attempted only 29 shots opposite Florida’s 44, so this 6-4 win is even sweeter. The Stars now moved up to the 3rd place in the West with 22 points, six behind the leaders Vegas Golden Knights.
Dallas had even eight players with two or more points in the victory over the Panthers. Sam Bennett led the bunch with three assists, while Roope Hintz scored a couple of goals. It’s interesting that Jason Robertson, who leads the Stars with 26 points (G 11, A 15), had only one point in Florida. He is currently the 4th best player in the NHL, while Hintz with 22 (G 8, A 14), and Joe Pavelski with 19 points (G 9, A 10) are also key performers for Dallas.
Jake Oettinger (6-2-1) is a probable goaltender against the Islanders on Saturday. The 23-year-old is allowing 2.24 goals per contest with a .927 SV% and one shutout.
G Scott Wedgewood (upper body) and RW Denis Gurianov (upper body) are questionable to face the Islanders on Saturday.

New York Islanders vs. Dallas Stars Pick
Both teams are playing well so far in the season, so this game is not going to be easy to predict. Still, I am giving a slight advantage to the Stars, who have been in great form when it comes to offense. Dallas scored at least four goals in seven of the previous eight games. In fact, the Stars have the second-best offense in the NHL that is averaging 3.88 goals per game, only Boston is scoring more on average. On the other hand, both New York and Dallas have top-10 defenses, so I am betting the home team’s offense to prevail here.
Pick: Take the Stars to win (-137)
The Total
The Islanders allowed 3+ goals in four of their last six games, and considering how good the Stars have been on offense recently, I expect to see a minimum of six combined goals on Saturday. The Stars are red-hot on offense, but they did allow 4+ goals in four of the previous five games, which is another reason I am going with a high-scoring game. Over is 19-7 in the Islanders’ last 26 vs. Western Conference rivals; Over is 7-0-2 in the Stars’ previous nine overall, while Over is 7-3-1 in Dallas’ last 11 home games.
Pick: Go Over 5.5 goals (-110)
