The NFL preseason concludes on Sunday, August 28, when we have two games on tap including this “Battle for New York City” duel, and here you can get the best Giants vs. Jets betting pick and odds.
Both the Giants and Jets are looking to finish the preseason with a perfect record after winning their respective games in the last two weeks. The Jets are -4.5 favorites when the rivals meet at MetLife Stadium, while the total is set at 38 points on BetMGM Sportsbook. These city foes are usual duelists when it comes to the preseason as they face for the 53rd time in 54 summers.
Daniel Jones struggles as Davis Webb excels
The New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals in two tight affairs, but not thanks to starting quarterback Daniel Jones. Head coach Brian Daboll handed Jones an opportunity in both games, but Daniel failed to make an impression and show why he deserves to be a starter for the Giants. Although he was rather accurate (20/26 passes completed), Jones registered only 185 yards with an interception and without a touchdown.
On the other hand, Jones’ deputies Davis Webb and Tyrod Taylor impressed with 421 yards and three passing touchdowns combined. The backup duo didn’t throw a single interception in the process. Rookie wide receiver Alex Bachman sliced Cincinnati’s secondary in the latest 25-22 victory with 11 receptions (14 targets) for 122 yards and two touchdowns. On both occasions, Bachman connected with Davis Webb for the score.
Jets to use starters in the opening half
The New York Jets beat the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons in the first two weeks of the preseason and now are the favorites to conclude it with the third victory. Following Zac Wilson’s injury, head coach Robert Saleh turned to backup quarterbacks Mike White and Chris Streveler, and the latter was particularly good as he recorded three touchdowns with one interception.
Saleh announced that he’ll start No. 2 QB Joe Flacco against the Giants on Sunday, which will be the first piece of the action for the veteran and former Super Bowl MVP. Other starters will play alongside Flacco and they will be involved in the first half. It will be a nice chance for the Jets to take an early lead against city rivals.

New York Giants vs. New York Jets Pick
While the Giants will probably roll with Daniel Jones from the start, I don’t expect him to make an impact here. The Jets allowed three passing touchdowns in the first two games and only one rushing TD, so we can say that the Jets’ defense mixed with starters on offense have an edge in this encounter. Joe Flacco is experienced enough to exploit the Giants’ secondary that allowed 475 passing yards and two touchdowns in two games, so don’t be surprised if he manages to lead the Jets to the end zone in the opening drive.
Pick: Take the Jets at -4.5 (-110)
The Total
I mentioned Jones’ struggles, but Davis Webb and Tyrod Taylor have found a way to unlock the opposing defenses this summer, and I have no doubt the two will combine for 200+ yards here. I expect to see at least one passing TD from the pair of backup QBs and also a minimum of one rushing TD. That was the case in each of the wins over the Pats and Bengals. All of it mixed with the fact that the Jets are going strong early on is a sign of a high-scoring affair.
Pick: Go Over 38 points (-110)
