New England Patriots vs. New York Jets Odds, Pick, Prediction 10/30/22

Another tight divisional rivalry game is upon us in Week 8 of the NFL on Sunday, October 30, so make sure you don’t miss out on the best New England Patriots vs. New York Jets betting pick and odds.

New York is red-hot right now and will be looking to get the fifth consecutive win when they host New England at MetLife Stadium. The Patriots are -2.5 favorites on BetMGM NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at 40.5 points. These AFC East foes have faced twice in 2021, and the Patriots recorded two massive wins.

Patriots disappointed against the Bears

The New England Patriots (3-4-0, 3-3-1 ATS) registered a pair of convincing wins over the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns, but they displayed the worst performance of the season in a 33-14 home loss to the Chicago Bears. New England was inferior in this game as they committed even four turnovers opposite Chicago’s one, while the Bears were much better in total yards (390-260) and first downs (24-12).

Mac Jones started the game but was quickly removed after completing three of six passes for 13 yards and an interception. Bailey Zappe came in and completed 14 of 22 passes for 185 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. New England trailed early on, so they had to focus on the pass offense and the run offense wasn’t effective. Rhamondre Stevenson did register a rushing TD and caught a game-high eight passes for 59 yards, DeVante Parker led the game with 68 yards on three receptions. Matthew Judon was a constant threat to Chicago’s O-Line and Justin Fields and had 2.5 sacks, while Ja’Whaun Bentley got a team-high ten tackles.

QB Brian Hoyer is going through the league-mandated concussion protocol while on the injured reserve list and will not feature against the Jets on Sunday. S Kyle Dugger (ankle) and LB Josh Uche (hamstring) are questionable to play.

Jets have been impressive this season

The New York Jets (5-2, 5-2-0 ATS) are not the most pleasant surprise of the season anymore, they are now considered a strong team in the NFL and even a possible Super Bowl contender. The Jets are on a four-game winning streak, during which they didn’t allow more than 20 points per game. New York beat the Denver Broncos 16-9 on the road in the most recent game, even though they were inferior in total yards (260-324) and first downs (10-21).

Zach Wilson completed 16 of 26 passes for 121 yards. Breece Hall scored a 62-yard rushing touchdown early in the game but suffered a season-ending injury in the process. The Jets acted quickly and acquired James Robinson from the Jacksonville Jaguars to serve as the team’s No. 1 running back. Greg Zuerlein was solid with three converted field goals out of three attempts. On defense, Sauce Gardner led the team with ten tackles.

WR Corey Davis (knee) and DE Jermaine Johnson II (ankle) are questionable to feature on Sunday against the Patriots.

New England Patriots vs. New York Jets Pick

Even though Bailey Zappe provided a spark in New England’s offense when he came in for Mac Jones against the Bears, the Pats still named Jones a starter for this game on Sunday. With Jones under the center, I don’t think the visitors will be dangerous enough to hurt the Jets, who allowed 19 points in the last two games against the Packers and Broncos. Breece Hall suffered a season-ending injury, but James Robinson is a good running back and he should fill the void when he gets familiar with the offensive playbook. The Jets’ defense is better than the Patriots’ and I am backing it to prevail here.

Pick: Take the Jets at +2.5 (-110)

The Total

The Jets kept the opponents to 20 or fewer points in each of their previous four games. The Patriots offense is a mess right now, and I don’t think they can score more than 17 points against a solid New York defense that allows 19.6 points per game. Although they allowed 33 points to the Bears last week, the Pats also have a decent defense that allows 20.9 ppg. Considering that both offenses are bang average, I don’t expect to see a high-scoring game here. Under is 5-1 in the last six H2H meetings in New York; Under is 5-1 in the Jets’ last six games following an ATS win, while Under is 13-3 in the Patriots’ previous 16 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game.

Pick: Go Under 40.5 points (-110)
