Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets Pick & Prediction 9/25/22

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets

The new NFL season continues with Week 3 games on Sunday, September 25, and the visitors simply must get a win in this one, so make sure you get the Bengals vs. Jets betting pick and odds.

Cincinnati is still looking for the first win of the season when they meet New York at MetLife Stadium. The Bengals are -6 favorites on FanDuel NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at 45 points. These AFC rivals have met once in 2021, and the Jets won that game 34-31 in New York.

Bengals narrowly lose to the Cowboys

The Cincinnati Bengals succumbed to a 20-17 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys as the home team’s kicker Brett Maher converted a 50-yard FG attempt to give the hosts an unlikely victory. Cincy was 14 points down at halftime but managed to tie the game late in the fourth. However, they lost in the end, and losing to a team that played without starting QB Dak Prescott has to be utterly disappointing, especially considering the Bengals were 7-point favorites.

The Bengals totaled just 254 yards opposite Dallas’ 337, but at least they didn’t commit a single turnover. Joe Burrow completed 24 of 36 passes for only 199 yards and a touchdown. Tee Higgins was on the receiving end of that lone TD pass as he led the team in receiving with 71 yards on six catches. Cincy was kept to below 90 rushing yards on 25 carries. Vonn Bell led the team defensively with seven tackles, while four players had five tackles.

TE Hayden Hurst (groin) and LB Germaine Pratt (knee) are questionable to feature on Sunday against the Jets.

Jets rallied to upset the Browns on the road

The New York Jets were 6-point underdogs against the Cleveland Browns on the road, but thanks to vintage Joe Flacco and a successful onside kick, the Jets celebrated a 31-30 win. Cleveland had a 13-point lead with under two minutes to go, but New York scored a couple of touchdowns to get away with a tight W. The Browns had more first downs (29-20), while the teams were pretty equal in total yards (405-402 for the Browns).

Joe Flacco displayed excellent performance and reminded us of his younger days in the league as he completed 26 of 44 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns. Garrett Wilson led all the receivers with 102 yards and two touchdowns on eight receptions, while Corey Davis served as Flacco’s deep threat with 83 yards and a score on just two catches. New York had 93 rushing yards on 20 attempts. Lamarcus Joyner led the Jets defensively with eight tackles, while Kwon Alexander, C.J. Mosley, and Jordan Whitehead chipped in seven apiece.

S Jordan Whitehead (calf), DT Quinnen Williams (foot), DE John Franklin-Myers (quad), and LT George Fant (knee) are questionable to play against Cincy on Sunday. Starting quarterback Zach Wilson is still out with a knee injury.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets Pick

Joe Burrow has been sacked even 13 times in the opening two games of the season, and his offensive line is not providing enough protection. The Bengals struggled early in both losses, and if they don’t improve in these two segments, they will suffer another loss on Sunday. I am backing the Jets to put up a fight in this one and try to beat the shaken Bengals, who will have an imperative to get a W here. Last week’s comeback victory will inject a lot of confidence and boost morale for the Jets, who will not bow down.

Pick: Take the Jets at +7.5 (-130)

The Total

Cincinnati’s defense wasn’t bad so far as it allowed 23 and 20 points to the Steelers and Cowboys, respectively. The Jets’ offense did erupt in a win over Cleveland, but I doubt that will happen again here. The Bengals’ offense, on the other hand, didn’t show its quality thus far, and considering how the Jets can defend their own turf, the visitors could have another tough offensive display. Under is 7-0 in the Bengals’ last seven games overall, while Under is 5-0 in Cincinnati’s previous five vs. AFC opponents.

Pick: Go Under 45.5 (-110)
