Another inter-conference NFL matchup will be played on Sunday, November 27, and this one will take place in New York, so feel free to read the best Bears vs. Jets betting pick and odds.
Chicago is desperate to avoid the fifth consecutive defeat when they take on New York at MetLife Stadium. The Jets are -5.5 favorites on BetMGM NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at 41.5 points. These inter-conference rivals will meet for the first time since 2018.
Bears suffered another tight defeat
The Chicago Bears (3-8-0, 4-6-1 ATS) suffered the seventh loss in eight games and fourth in a row as they fell short of the Atlanta Falcons 27-24 on the road. For the third straight game, Chicago lost by three points or less, which must be heartbreaking for the fans. The Bears probably didn’t deserve to lose in Atlanta as they were slightly better in total yards and first downs, while they were much better in possession (35:10-24:50).
Justin Fields completed 14 of 21 passes for 153 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also led all the players in rushing yards with 85 and a score on 18 carries. David Montgomery also scored a rushing TD and had a game-high 54 receiving yards on three catches. Darnell Mooney was on the receiving end of Fields’ lone TD pass. Defensively. Chicago recorded zero sacks opposite Atlanta’s four, but Jaquan Brisker did register a game-high 11 tackles.
QB Justin Fields (shoulder), WR N’Keal Harry (illness), and CB Kyler Gordon (concussion) are questionable to feature on Sunday against New York.
Jets disappointed against New England
The New York Jets (6-4-0, 6-4-0 ATS) set a negative record with a 10-3 road defeat to the divisional foes New England Patriots. Namely, the Jets lost their 14th consecutive game to the Pats, breaking the Denver Broncos’ negative active record for most straight losses to the same opponent. The Jets scored a season-low three points, which could even get them overtime, but New England’s special teamer Marcus Jones broke a 3-3 tie with an 84-yard punt return for a game-winning and only TD of the game.
Zach Wilson completed nine of 22 passes for 77 yards. It was Wilson’s worst start of his career, and the entire team recorded miserable 103 total yards and six first downs, which is easily one of the worst offensive displays in recent years. New York’s defense, as usual, was excellent and registered six sacks, while C.J. Mosley chipped in with game-high nine tackles.
RB Breece Hall (knee) is out for the season. DT Sheldon Rankins (elbow) and WR Corey Davis (knee) are questionable to face the Bears on Sunday.
Trends:
Chicago:
• 7-15-1 ATS in the last 23 games overall
• 2-5 ATS in the last seven road games
New York:
• 5-2 ATS in the last seven games overall
• 5-1 ATS in the last six games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game
• 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss
Chicago Bears vs. New York Jets Pick
The only way for the Bears to beat the Jets on Sunday is to dominate on the ground. Although Chicago has the best run offense in the NFL that averages 197.9 yards per game, the visitors will face a top-10 run defense.
Chicago is pretty toothless when it comes to passing, while its defense is allowing 24.9 points per game and is among the worst five in the league. Zach Wilson must step up his game if he wants to keep his starting place, and I think this game is perfect for him to show his worth and why he was selected with the 2nd pick overall in the last year’s draft.
Pick: Take the Jets at -3.5 (-120)
The Total
Chicago allowed at least 27 points in each of the last four games, but that was against better offensive teams than the Jets, so I don’t expect to see a high-scoring affair on Sunday. The bears have the fourth-worst defense against the run and I am sure the Jets will try to exploit that and run the ball often. That’s also Chicago’s game plan since the start of the season. Under is 5-0 in the Jets’ last five games overall; Under is 4-1 in New York’s previous five home games, while Under is 4-0 in the Jets’ last four games after accumulating less than 150 yards passing in their previous game.
Pick: Go Under 43.5 points (-133)
