Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions Odds, Pick, Prediction 11/24/22

Week 12 of the NFL is starting with Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 24, and here you can check out the best Bills vs. Lions betting pick and odds.

Detroit is hoping for the fourth straight victory when they welcome Buffalo at Ford Field. The Bills are firm -9.5 favorites on BetMGM NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at 52.5 points. These inter-conference rivals will meet for the first time since 2018.

Bills beat Browns in Detroit

The Buffalo Bills (7-3-0, 5-4-1 ATS) hosted the Cleveland Browns at Ford Field in Detroit as they couldn’t play in Buffalo due to heavy snow. The Bills managed to avoid the third defeat in a row with a 31-23 victory, even though the nominal visitors were better in total yards (296-357) and first downs (27-22). Still, Buffalo was excellent on offense and careful with possession as the Bills didn’t commit a single turnover and forced one on the other end.

Josh Allen completed 18 of 27 passes for 197 yards and one touchdown. He connected with Stefon Diggs for that TD pass, while Dawson Knox and Gabe Davis combined for 138 yards on 12 receptions (14 targets). Devin Singletary and James Cook contributed with 86 rushing yards apiece, but the former scored a touchdown. Defensively, Tyrel Dodson and Matt Milano combined for 25 tackles, while the latter registered the only sack for Buffalo in this win.

S Micah Hyde (neck), WR Jamison Crowder (ankle), DE Greg Rousseau (ankle), and T Tommy Doyle (ACL) are out indefinitely. LB Tremaine Edmunds (groin), and CB Tre’Davious White (knee) are questionable to face the Lions on Thursday.

Lions upset the Giants in New York

The Detroit Lions (4-6-0, 6-4-0 ATS) responded to a four-game losing skid with three consecutive victories. After upsetting the Green Bay Packers, the Lions beat the Bears and Giants on the road, scoring 31 points in each of those two wins. It was one of the best defensive displays by Detroit this season; the Lions forced three turnovers and committed none in return. They did trail 6-3 after the opening quarter but controlled the game since and deservedly got to a 31-18 win.

Jared Goff completed 17 of 26 passes for 165 yards. Jamaal Williams was phenomenal on the ground as he scored three rushing touchdowns without even being the team’s leader in yards. He had 64 on 17 carries; Justin Jackson posted a game-high 66 yards on nine attempts, while D’Andre Swift registered a rushing TD. Amon-Ra St. Brown led the Lions in receiving with 76 yards on seven catches. On defense, DeShon Elliott and Will Harris each had eight tackles.

WR Josh Reynolds has been held out of the previous three contests due to a back injury, and it has yet to be established if he will be active in Week 12 versus the Bills.

0-5 ATS in the last five games against the NFC North opponents

13-6 ATS in the last 19 games overall 7-2 ATS in the last nine home games 6-0 ATS in the last six games in November

Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions Pick

There is no doubt the Bills have a better team and more quality, but the Lions improved a lot in recent weeks, and are not going to give up without a fight here. Detroit still has the weakest defense in the NFL, but the offense is playing well and I think they can score multiple touchdowns against Buffalo. The Bills allowed 20+ points in each of their previous three games, and given that the Lions are averaging 25.0 points per game, I am backing the hosts to cover. Buffalo will likely get a straight-up win.

Pick: Take the Lions at +10.5 (-130)

The Total

Expect to see a lot of points in this one. Detroit is allowing 415.9 yards per game to the opponents, while Buffalo’s defense hasn’t been playing at the same level as early in the season. The Bills dropped from the top defense in the NFL to the 4th place in that regard, which is an opportunity for the Lions to test their defense. Over is 9-3 in the Lions’ last 12 games overall; Over is 20-8 in Detroit’s previous 28 home games, while Over is 8-3 in Bills’ last 11 games after accumulating more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.

Pick: Go Over 52.5 points (-110)
